China's oldest and largest wine maker, Yantai Changyu Pioneer Wine, was presented with the trophy for the Best Chinese Wine Producer at the 2017 International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) awards ceremony held in London on Nov 15, Ecns.cn reported on Nov 17.

The IWSC was founded in 1969 to award excellence to wines and spirits worldwide. As one of the world's most prestigious wine contests, it sets the international benchmark for quality, with dedicated tasting premises, a permanent onsite cellar and over 400 global experts judging products for 7 months of the year.

The Liaoning Changyu Golden Valley Icewine Chateau Golden Diamond Level Icewine 2015, one of the winery's bestsellers, received two accolades: Chinese Wine Trophy 2017 and Gold Outstanding 2017.

The IWSC judges spoke highly of the wine and acclaimed it as an "excellent wine". The judges' tasting notes on the official website of IWSC read: "Deep gold with orange lights; intense nose of orange marmalade, dried apricots, quince, and apple, butterscotch and nuts, lemon zest overlay; the palate has racy acidity in balance with richness of flavor and unctuous texture, lingering finish."
