Significant construction progress had been made on the nine major projects in Yantai, Shandong by the end of October.

The nine projects, focusing on cultural tourism, healthcare, logistics, education, airport construction, and industrial parks, have received an investment of 16.4 billion yuan ($2.47 billion). Construction on the projects is 72 percent complete.

Xingfu New Town in Zhifu district, one of the aforementioned projects, has a planned area of 27 square kilometers and focuses on medical care, business services, ecological tourism and research and development. The project currently has a total investment of 5.2 billion yuan.

Zhifu Wonderland, another one of the projects, aims to make full use of the tourism resources in Zhifu district, including Yantai Mountain, Zhifu Bay and Kongdong Island, to promote local tourism.

Yantai Sea World, with a planned area of 7.7 square kilometers, will become a tourism complex integrating entertainment, coastal sightseeing, shopping and cruises.

Jiahe New Town in Fushan district, Yantai has a planned area of 28 square kilometers and will focus on developing the service industry in education, infrastructure and transportation. The project has used 2.1 billion yuan in investment, 92 percent of the planned total.

Bajiao Bay Central Innovation Zone aims to become an urban area integrating talent training, scientific and technological research and development, entrepreneurship, convention and exhibition, and vacationing in five to 10 years. The project has used 1.2 billion yuan in investment, 95 percent of the total.

Yantai Airport New Area, located in the western part of Yantai Economic and Technological Development Area, will expand the Yantai Penglai International Airport.

Relying on the airport, the project will further boost the airport economy by integrating logistics, manufacturing, trade, and e-commerce. The project has used 2.5 billion yuan in investment.

Yantai High Speed Railway New Area has a planned area of 93.9 square kilometers and will expand the Yantai South Station and intercity space stations.

Mouping New Town has a planned area of 20 square kilometers and has used 2.8 billion yuan in investment. This year, it will focus on the construction of a medicine valley.

Jinshan Bay Area has received national debt funds of 50 million yuan and will start the urban transformation of two villages this year.
