The semi-submersible oil storage platform "Shenhai No 1" was delivered in Yantai, a coastal city of East China's Shandong province on Jan 14.

Developed by China National Offshore Oil Corp, it is the world’s first 100,000-ton deep-water semi-submersible oil production and storage platform.

The platform, which features three world-class innovations and 13 domestic advanced technologies, represents a major breakthrough in the deep-water oil and gas field and in the construction of deep-water offshore engineering equipment in China. It is of great significance to the development of China's marine resources.

The platform will be transported to Hainan province in February and used for the development of China's first 1,500-meter-deep gas field – Lingshui 17-2 gas field.

After installing and commissioning the facilities, the platform is expected to be put into use in June this year.
